New Delhi, January 18, 2025<\/em> \u2013 A day after an alleged stone attack on his car, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the incident as part of a larger conspiracy to eliminate him. Kejriwal, who is contesting from the New Delhi constituency in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, declared that the capital had “never seen such a poll campaign” marred by violent attempts against political rivals.<\/p>\n

AAP\u2019s Allegations Against BJP<\/strong><\/h3>\n

According to AAP, stones were hurled at Kejriwal’s vehicle during a campaign rally on Saturday. Addressing a press conference with AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi alleged that the BJP was resorting to violence out of fear of losing the elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BJP is conspiring to eliminate Arvind Kejriwal because they know they cannot defeat him electorally,\u201d Atishi claimed. She further accused the attackers of being closely associated with BJP leader Parvesh Verma.<\/p>\n

Atishi named one of the alleged attackers as Rahul alias Shanky, whom she described as having “multiple criminal cases, including robbery and attempted murder, registered against him.” She claimed that Rahul is often seen with Parvesh Verma and accused the BJP of using criminals to target Kejriwal.<\/p>\n

BJP Denies Allegations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Parvesh Verma refuted the accusations, turning the blame back on Kejriwal. He alleged that the incident was fabricated and claimed that Kejriwal\u2019s vehicle had hit three youths who were protesting against him. Verma further accused Kejriwal of instructing his driver to “crush them.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe truth is that Kejriwal\u2019s own actions led to the chaos,\u201d Verma stated, rejecting claims that the BJP was involved in the incident.<\/p>\n

A New Low in Delhi Politics?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The incident has sparked a heated exchange between AAP and BJP, with both sides trading accusations as Delhi prepares for assembly elections scheduled for February 5. The alleged attack highlights the increasing intensity and animosity in the poll campaign.<\/p>\n

Sanjay Singh labeled the incident as a desperate attempt by the BJP to suppress AAP\u2019s rising popularity. \u201cThey cannot defeat us in a fair contest, so they resort to violence and conspiracies,\u201d Singh remarked.<\/p>\n

Elections Amid Rising Tensions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The alleged attack has added to the charged political atmosphere in Delhi. Voting for all 70 assembly seats will take place on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.<\/p>\n
