The International Peoples\u2019 Assembly (IPA)<\/strong> will host a webinar to address the Situation of Palestinian Political Prisoners with lawyers representing several of these prisoners, shedding light on the harsh conditions inside Israeli occupation prisons. The event will take place on Friday, September 20<\/strong>, at 17:00 Ramallah time (check other time zones here<\/a>). This webinar also serves as an act of solidarity with Khalida Jarrar and all Palestinian political prisoners. Speakers include Khaled Mahajneh, lawyer with the Prisoners Affairs Authority; Tala Nasser, Addameer Association for Prisoner Support and Human Rights; and Bilal Naammeh, human rights lawyer.<\/p>\n

This initiative comes in response to escalating violations against administrative detainees and victims of enforced disappearance, particularly those kidnapped from Gaza and held in Israeli prisons without charge or trial. These acts are in blatant violation of international law and human rights conventions. According to the Addameer Association, there are currently almost 10,000 Palestinian political prisoners, including 240 children, 87 women, and 3,300 administrative detainees.<\/p>\n

Since the onset of the war against the Palestinian people last year, Israeli authorities have launched large-scale arrest campaigns throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank, Jerusalem, Gaza, and within the 1948 territories. Prisoners have been subjected to torture, beatings, humiliation, and medical neglect, and have had essential items like clothing, mattresses, and blankets confiscated.<\/p>\n

The webinar is part of the \u201cLet\u2019s Win for Our Prisoners\u201d campaign, aimed at exposing the conditions under which Palestinian prisoners are held, demanding the immediate release of all political prisoners, and urging the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to investigate the conditions of Palestinian detainees and determine the whereabouts of missing individuals.<\/p>\n

Particular attention will be drawn to the case of Khalida Jarrar, a human rights activist and former Legislative Council member. Detained since December 26, 2023, she has faced severe isolation and systematic harassment during her imprisonment. Initially held in Damon Prison, she was later transferred to the “Nevei Tirtzia” isolation center.<\/p>\n
