CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and former Prime Minister and respected leader Jhala Nath Khanal have extended their warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr to the Muslim community across Nepal.

In his message dated Monday, Chaitra 18, 2081 (March 31, 2025), Nepal conveyed his heartfelt wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepali brothers and sisters observing Eid-ul-Fitr both within the country and abroad. He highlighted the tradition of exchanging greetings and blessings after performing special prayers on Eid, noting that the practice of preparing, eating, and sharing various sweet delicacies during the festival strengthens family and social bonds.

“This festival conveys the message of sympathy, generosity, and mutual harmony,” Nepal stated. “Nepal’s cultural and social diversity is our unique identity. The coexistence of various ethnicities, religions, cultures, traditions, and languages has enriched Nepali society. This unity within diversity has strengthened our nationality.”

Nepal emphasized that religious and cultural festivals have helped make Nepali society more tolerant, inclusive, and united. “Festivals like Eid provide important opportunities to promote social unity and reconciliation, connecting all Nepalis with feelings of prosperity, peace, and brotherhood,” he added.

Similarly, Jhala Nath Khanal wished for national unity, good health, longevity, and continued progress for all Nepali Muslim brothers and sisters celebrating the festival. “Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated the day after the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan. The Muslim community observes this festival by offering prayers and sharing joy through gatherings after sighting the moon on the evening of the last day of Ramadan,” Khanal stated in his greeting message.

He emphasized that this festival strengthens friendship, brotherhood, and unity within the Muslim community. “It greatly contributes to promoting national unity based on Nepal’s diversity, mutual friendship, and religious tolerance,” Khanal added.

Both leaders concluded their messages by expressing hope that the Eid-ul-Fitr festival would further strengthen national unity, tolerance, and goodwill among all Nepalis, with Khanal making “a heartfelt appeal to move forward firmly on the path of national unity, progress, socialism, and prosperity.”

The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most important celebrations in Islam, marking the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting and prayer.
