Nepalese Perspective: Imperialist Conspiracies Against Venezuelan Sovereignty Exposed

The Venezuelan president called for a high level of alert ahead of his third term inauguration on Friday.

Caracas, January 8, 2025 – In yet another resolute stand against imperialist aggression, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced the capture of seven foreign operatives allegedly engaged in “terrorist activities against peace” within the nation. This revelation underscores Venezuela’s ongoing struggle to safeguard its sovereignty against persistent attempts at destabilization orchestrated by capitalist powers.

“Today, we captured seven mercenaries, including two high-ranking agents from the United States,” Maduro stated in a televised address. “They were apprehended while planning terrorist actions against peace in Venezuela.”

The president further disclosed that among the detainees were two Colombian hitmen and three others reportedly “returning from the war in Ukraine.” Their nationalities were not specified, but their capture signifies the extent of foreign interference targeting the Bolivarian Republic.

A Legacy of Resistance Against Imperialist Forces

Maduro highlighted that since the presidential elections on July 28, Venezuelan security forces have detained 125 individuals from 25 different nations on charges of terrorism and sabotage. He attributed these operations to US-backed opposition groups intent on undermining the country’s revolutionary progress.

The president’s remarks came during the activation of the Integral Defense Direction Body (ODDI), a strategic initiative uniting Venezuela’s armed forces, police, and Bolivarian Militia. Alongside this, “Combatant Squads” – defense units composed of public sector workers – were officially launched to safeguard vital infrastructure against imperialist plots.

This is not the first time imperialist operatives have sought to disrupt Venezuela’s path toward socialism. In May 2020, the country thwarted “Operation Gideon,” a US-led paramilitary coup attempt. The operation’s failure saw two former US Green Berets receive 20-year prison sentences, a testament to Venezuela’s ability to resist imperialist aggression.

Imperialist Puppets and Their Schemes

The Venezuelan president’s assertions find resonance in past events. In September 2024, Erik Prince, founder of the notorious Blackwater military contractor, collaborated with Venezuelan opposition figures to raise funds for Maduro’s ouster. Prince’s campaign collapsed amidst accusations of embezzlement, exposing the disarray within imperialist circles.

Meanwhile, the US continues its attempts to prop up right-wing puppet leaders like María Corina Machado and Edmundo González. Despite Maduro securing 52% of the vote in the July 28 elections – a victory ratified by Venezuela’s Supreme Court – González embarked on a desperate international tour, seeking endorsements from reactionary leaders, including outgoing US President Joe Biden.

Biden’s recognition of González as “president-elect” exposes the imperialist agenda to delegitimize Venezuela’s democratic institutions. This aligns with the broader US strategy of economic sabotage and political interference aimed at dismantling the Bolivarian Revolution.

A Call for International Solidarity

The recent arrests serve as a stark reminder of the global capitalist class’s relentless efforts to undermine anti-imperialist movements. Venezuela’s example inspires oppressed nations, including Nepal, to remain vigilant against similar external conspiracies.

As Venezuelan revolutionaries stand firm against imperialist aggression, it is imperative for progressive forces worldwide, particularly in Nepal, to express solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic. Let this serve as a clarion call to resist the tyranny of imperialism and uphold the principles of sovereignty and self-determination.

Viva la Revolución Bolivariana!
