Tiger Killed 40 Years Old Woman

40-year-old Padmakala Thapa of Sundarpur village, Thakurbaba municipality-7 of Bardia died due to tiger attack today. A tiger attacked Thapa and took him inside the forest while grazing goats in Bakuwa community forest.

After the incident, local residents, police, army, and park team reached the spot. It is said that after the team reached, the tiger left the body and fled towards the forest. However, the local people have refused to pick up the body of the deceased, demanding tiger control and proper compensation.

A technical team has been deployed for tiger control. It is said that since the incident took place in the community forest area, the compensation process is still in confusion.

Since last July, three people have lost their lives due to attacks by elephants, rhinos and tigers in Bardiya. According to Ajit Tumbahamfe, head of Bardia, National Nature Conservation Fund, the increasing struggle between wildlife and human activities in this area has made people’s lives panic.

The story is long and complicated. A total of 83 Nepalis were killed and 599 others injured in attacks by wild animals in the first five months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year, the Nepal Police said on Monday.

There is a continuous human-animal conflict in Nepal. Animals are becoming a big challenge for farmers. Protecting crops from monkeys and other animals and protecting lives from the wild animals is a serious issue.

For the last five months, snake bites alone left 70 dead and 532 wounded from mid-July to mid-December in 2024, the Nepal Police said in a statement.

Six people died and 14 were injured in elephant attacks, while rhinoceros attacks claimed four lives and injured 14 others.

In addition, assaults by tigers left three dead and 24 wounded, and 15 others were injured in bear attacks.
