Business Groups Condemn Violence, Demand Compensation

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Federation of Nepali Industry and Entrepreneurship have strongly condemned the violent incidents at Tinkune on Friday, urging the government to compensate for the damages and take action against perpetrators.

In separate press statements, both organizations stressed that while peaceful protests are a democratic right, violence, vandalism, and attacks on private and public property cannot be tolerated. “Looting, arson, and destruction of businesses are unacceptable and must be addressed with strict legal measures,” FNCCI stated.

The federations also highlighted that protesters not only vandalized properties but also looted not only other things but also agricultural products, including vegetables and fruits, causing additional losses to traders. They called for a stable and secure business environment, warning that such incidents harm the national economy.

Urging swift government action, the federations demanded strict legal measures against those responsible and asked all industrialists to unite in protecting and strengthening the republic while ensuring businesses and livelihoods are not targeted during political unrest.
