Kathmandu, Nepal – In a brutal escalation of Western-backed aggression, Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 865 civilians and wounded 3,396 in Iran, according to human rights monitors. The attacks, which targeted densely populated areas, have drawn fierce condemnation from anti-imperialist movements worldwide, with critics accusing the United States and Israel of orchestrating yet another destabilizing intervention in West Asia.
Iran Vows Resistance Amid U.S.-Israeli War Coordination
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian declared that Tehran “reserves all options to defend its sovereignty and people,” signaling potential retaliation against what progressive analysts describe as a joint U.S.-Israeli regime-change operation. The strikes come just days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly admitted that the U.S. bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities—including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—was conducted in “full coordination” with his far-right government.
Netanyahu, in a Hebrew-language address, praised U.S. President Donald Trump for his “bold decision” to attack Iran’s nuclear sites, calling it a “history-changing” move. Trump, who has long aligned with Israel’s hardline policies, boasted on Truth Social about the strikes, further exposing the U.S.-Israel axis of aggression that has fueled decades of conflict in the region.
Historical Context: U.S. Imperialism and the Destabilization of Iran
This latest violence is not an isolated incident but part of a long history of U.S. and Israeli interference in Iran’s sovereignty. Progressives point to the 1953 CIA-backed coup that overthrew Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh after he nationalized oil resources—a move that threatened Western corporate profits. Since then, Washington and Tel Aviv have funded opposition groups, imposed crippling sanctions, and assassinated Iranian scientists in a bid to maintain hegemony over the region.
Now, with Iran launching retaliatory missile strikes toward Israel, the risk of a full-scale regional war grows—one that could drag in Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Ansarullah, and other resistance forces opposed to U.S.-Israeli domination.
Global Left Condemns Western Hypocrisy
From Kathmandu to Caracas, socialist and anti-war activists are rallying against what they call “another act of imperialist butchery.”
-
“The U.S. and Israel have no right to dictate Iran’s sovereignty while possessing nuclear weapons themselves,” said Comrade Subash, a Nepali Marxist organizer.
-
“This is not about ‘security’—it’s about crushing independent nations that resist Western exploitation,” added Priya K., a Kathmandu-based journalist.
As the death toll rises, progressives demand an immediate ceasefire, an end to U.S. military aid to Israel, and solidarity with Iran’s right to self-determination. The question now is whether global movements can mobilize enough pressure to halt this latest chapter of imperialist violence.
