Kathmandu Gurkhas Face Chitwan Rhinos and Janakpur Bolts Take on Karnali Yaks in NPL Today

Kathmandu: Two exciting matches are scheduled today in the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL), which began on Saturday.

In the first match, Kathmandu Gurkhas will face Chitwan Rhinos at 9:15 AM. Both teams represent the Bagmati Province. Kathmandu Gurkhas, owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Venture, have Karan KC as their marquee player. KC, a seasoned member of Nepal’s national cricket team, brings extensive experience to the squad.

The Gurkhas’ lineup also includes Bhim Sarki, Shahab Alam, and U-19 player Dipesh Kandel, along with players like Rashid Khan, Krishna Karki, Sumit Maharjan, Shankar Rana, Raju Rijal, Prateek Shrestha, and Vivek KC. Their foreign players are Namibia’s captain Gerhard Erasmus, the Netherlands’ Michael Levitt, and England’s Stephen Eskinazi, Dan Douthwaite, and Nathan Sowter.

Chitwan Rhinos, led by marquee player Kushal Malla, another national team player, boast a balanced team. Key players include Sharad Vesawkar, Amar Singh Routela, Bipin Rawal, and Deepak Bohara. Their foreign lineup features Ravi Bopara, Mershad Lange, Luke Benkenstein, Hassan Esakhil, and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton.

The second match will kick off at 1:15 PM between Janakpur Bolts and Karnali Yaks. Janakpur Bolts, fresh from their dominant win against Biratnagar Kings in the opening match, are confident under the leadership of Anil Shah, with Asif Sheikh as the marquee player. Their squad includes national and international talents like spinner Lalit Rajbanshi, Kishor Mahato, and New Zealand’s Jimmy Neesham.

Meanwhile, Karnali Yaks, owned by Himalayan Builders & Engineers, aim to shine under the marquee player Sompal Kami, who has represented Nepal in two World Cups. Other notable players include Gulshan Jha, Dev Khanal, and foreign stars like Shikhar Dhawan, Chadwick Walton, and Babar Hayat.

With star-studded lineups and competitive spirit, today’s matches promise thrilling cricket action.
