KATHMANDU: PL Singh, a former Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and a celebrated figure in Nepal’s democratic movement, passed away on Monday morning at his residence in Chaksibari, Thamel. He was 85. According to family sources, Singh had been battling an ulcer for an extended period.
Singh served as the Mayor of Kathmandu after securing a resounding victory in the local elections of 2049 BS (1992 AD). His tenure is remembered for several transformative initiatives aimed at modernizing Kathmandu and improving the lives of its residents.
